Greenland isn't just not the size of Africa — it's smaller than two African countries
Algeria, DR Congo, Greenland, Sudan, and Libya — all five drawn at the same true, equal-area scale, lined up in a row. Greenland lands right in the middle: barely smaller than the two African countries on one side, barely bigger than the two on the other.
Algeria and DR Congo aren't just bigger than Greenland — each one alone has more land area than the entire island. Greenland is famous for looking huge on the map, but lined up at true scale it sits in the middle of this pack, not at the top. And its lead over Sudan and Libya isn't much either: Greenland is only about 16% bigger than Sudan and 23% bigger than Libya.
This is the flip side of the 14-Greenlands map: the same Mercator distortion that inflates Greenland to look Africa-sized is why it feels like an outlier here too — really, it's just another mid-sized landmass in this lineup.
